About BMR and TDEE
What is BMR?
Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is the number of calories your body burns at rest to maintain basic life functions like breathing, circulation, cell production, and nutrient processing.
BMR Formulas Used
- Mifflin-St Jeor: Most accurate for most people, especially those with average body composition
- Harris-Benedict: Older formula, still widely used but may overestimate for some
- Katch-McArdle: Most accurate when body fat percentage is known
What is TDEE?
Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) is your BMR plus the calories burned through physical activity. This is the total number of calories you need to maintain your current weight.
